sky & sage learning center
The Sky & Sage Learning Center is many things:
A daycare and after school center that will serve as a space to foster creativity and independent learning in young minds.
A space for the community that the daycare serves, to gather and connect.
A rentable space for the general community.
And on the second level an extension of a college campus for the Early Education and Childcare program.
This multi-use building is designed to build confidence and inspire thinkers of all ages.

Process
While designing this we originally wanted the design to have a circular main hub and have two wings, one to the east and one to the northwest. When we started factoring the parking space required on the site, the outdoor playground placement, and the best interior traffic flow, we knew we had to evolve the building shape and switch things up a bit.
Other challenges we faced was how we wanted the daycare to interface with the college campus. We started with the intent of having staff spaces and administration for both on the second level but instead decided that it would be best to keep them completely separate to maximize productivity and reduce unnecessarily long pathways for the daycare administration and staff.
